Presenting at Camino Real Middle School

Hi, my name is Paiuma Teton, and I’ve been on the Evolvement leadership team for two years. In this blog post, I will share my middle school presentation experience at Camino Real Middle School, where I, and two others were chosen to speak to the younger audience about the dangers of nicotine and tobacco products.

When I arrived at Camino Real Middle School, I was very nervous. My hands were becoming sweaty, and my heart was almost racing. Thankfully, though, I wasn’t doing the presentation alone! Two other Evolvement members, Sienna and Saim, accompanied me. Having the other members with me really helped me work through the day and gave me the confidence to present. Adding on, all three of us were very happy to have had the opportunity to teach the middle schoolers about 24/7, No Minor Sale, and the dangers of tobacco and nicotine products.

Presenting to middle schools is very important and impactful to those in the grades of 6th through 8th. I believe this to be true because in middle school kids are more likely to use Nicotine and Tobacco products based on what they see on social media, the social pressure to fit in, the curiosity to try it, and so much more. This is why I was very happy to share with all the grades, 6th through 8th, about how dangerous the products can be for their brains and bodies. To end this blog, I hope I, Sienna, and Saim made an everlasting change to the students’ lives in any way possible, whether learning or decision-wise.
